You can use the Thesaurus to look up synonyms and antonyms. +Help on the Spelling Checker and Thesaurus LFor information on the Spelling Checker and Thesaurus, click an item in the 7topic list to the right or click an active area below. NThe Spelling Checker window is where you check your documents for errors. RThe Spelling Checker Options dialog box is where you set the types of "errors FrameMaker checks. WThe Dictionary Functions dialog box contains controls for working with the Npersonal and document dictionaries. It also contains settings that affect the 'spell-checking of the entire document. EThe The saurus window is where you look up synonyms and antonyms. Edit menu > Spelling Checker Window where you can check a document for spelling and punctuation r Derrors or store and maintain spelling and hyphenation dictionaries. FrameMaker does not spell-check text that was created in a dialog box or Eanother window, such as cross-references, variables, autonumbers, or n Emarker text. It also does not check text in PostScript code columns. n FrameMaker spell-checks only the page type currently displayed. For l- Hexample, if a body page is displayed, only body pages are checked. If a u 9master page is displayed, only master pages are checked. EYou can skip a paragraph or text line when spell-checking by using a SLanguage setting of None (see the Advanced properties of the Paragraph \Designer for paragraphs and Object Properties for text lines ). This feature c Fcan be convenient when you want to skip a paragraph of computer code. MYou can also specify a different language for FrameMaker to use when o Ospell-checking specific paragraphs or text lines. See the Advanced ^properties of the Paragraph Designer for paragraphs and Object Properties for text lines. *Displays a word or character pattern that FrameMaker considers questionable. Correction 8Lists possible corrections in the scroll list. Displays pa 4the most likely suggestion in the text box. You can ri /also type your own correction in the text box. Check Document Spell-checks the entire document. Current Page Spell-checks only the current pa Show Hyphenation Displays the hyphenation points of the word that is in Dis 7the Word text box. FrameMaker hyphenates words ca 7based on information stored in the dictionaries. If it j t find the word, it calculates the hyphenation ell points. .To store the new hyphenation in your personal 6dictionary, change the hyphenation points in the text box and then click Learn. +To change hyphenation points, type hyphens *where you want them in the Word text box. +To prevent a word from hyphenating, type a %hyphen at the beginning of the word. 1To store a hyphenated word (such as spell-check) 2in the dictionary, type a backslash followed by a hyphen. MoreMa Automatic Correction 5Corrects future occurrences of words or punctuation. :When you later click Correct, FrameMaker will add 7the word or punctuation, along with its correction, to of 8an internal list of automatic corrections. The Spelling ec 2Checker will use these corrections until you quit FrameMaker Options :Opens the Spelling Checker Options dialog box 6where you specify what FrameMaker finds as an !error and what it should ignore. Dictionaries @Opens the Dictionary Functions dialog box where you )manage your personal, document, and site 1dictionaries, rehyphenate the document, mark all 9paragraphs for rechecking, or clear the internal list of automatic corrections. Start Checking 9Begins spell-checking. FrameMaker spell-checks a 3document flow by flow. You also click this command 3to ignore a questioned word and continue checking. 8 # % " G $ & " 6 % ' " % Correct 4Replaces the selected text in the document with the !text in the Correction text box. Learn 4Adds the word in the Word text box to your personal ;dictionary. FrameMaker will no longer question the 1word in any document you spell-check. FrameMaker will no longer question the word in the current document. Unlearn 0Removes the word in the Word text box from your 3personal dictionary and the document s dictionary. If the checkbox is th 5off, the hyphen is disregarded, and each part of the i 3word is checked separately. If the checkbox is on, ( FrameMaker considers the hyphenated pair as one word that requires the hyphen. Two in a Row 1Finds repeated punctuation and suggests a single o 6character instead. Specify the characters in the text :box. FrameMaker ignores more than two punctuation characters in a row. Straight Quotes 1Finds straight quotation marks (") or two single c 2curved quotation marks and suggests double curved ,quotation marks ( and ) as a replacement. Extra Spaces 0Finds two spaces in a row and suggests a single 8space instead. FrameMaker ignores more than two /spaces in a row and does not question em or en + spaces. Words with Digits 1Ignores words containing numbers, such as File3. Get Defaults 6Restores the default settings for the options in this dialog box.
